Travel & Stay
Most events will be taking place near Southwest Harbor.
Acadia National Park and Latty Cove
Latty Cove and Southwest Harbor, where most of our wedding events will be held, are located on Mount Desert Island (MDI), which is also home to one of the United States’ most precious gems, Acadia National Park. We encourage everyone to take advantage of everything the park and the island have to offer - it is truly a remarkable place!
Getting there
Getting to the island:
By car (MDI is about 4.5 hours from Boston and 8 hours from NYC)
Bar Harbor Airport (located just off the island, offers limited service to and from Boston only)
Bangor International Airport (about 1 hour from MDI, more flight options)
Getting around the island:
Car (rental car service available at both airports)
Islander Explorer Bus (service to and from major destinations within and around Acadia National Park)
Limited taxi service, no rideshares. MDI ain’t New York City baby!
Optional shuttle service to and from our ceremony and reception.
Weather
Coastal Maine in early June is stunning: blooming wildflowers, burgeoning wildlife, and seascape and mountain vistas that will live in your heart for years to come! Weather-wise, the average high is about 71º and low about 50º. We recommend packing layers for extra warmth, especially for those planning to explore the island. June also tends to have a handful of rainy days, so it’s never a bad idea to pack a raincoat or umbrella to protect yourself from the salty sea breeze! Since most events will be taking place outdoors on the grass, we recommend swapping out your stilettos for wedges, block heels, or flats.
Staying on Mount Desert Island
Details regarding getting to our venues, chartered shuttle locations, parking, etc. are yet to come, but we recommend booking a place to stay as soon as you can! The map here shows Latty Cove (ceremony and reception location) as well as some of the surrounding towns where we recommend staying. Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Bass Harbor and Bar Harbor are all on Mount Desert Island, while Ellsworth and Trenton are just off the island. All towns are within a 35 minute drive.
There are many accommodations both on and off the Island. Feel free to choose any of these! Below are a few recommended lodgings, separated into four categories: discounted accommodations (both of which are near most of our events), inns and hotels (traditional modern hotels), cottages (typically stand-alone, small cabins/homes in a neighborhood), and vacation rentals (sky’s the limit! But typically these homes will only rent for week-long stays or longer). Airbandb and Vrbo also have plenty of great rentals available!
